MARCH 2 "THE PROCRASTINATOR"
JACKS’ MOTTO
“Why do today, what I can do tomorrow,”
That’s right Jack said, “why do today, what you
can do tomorrow”
But a thought came to Jack that never occurred
to him before, “Unless there’s no tomorrow…then that would be disastrous!”
Troubled by this thought, Jack decided to pray,
“Lord is tomorrow coming?”
It’s not for you to know the future, the Lord
responded, why do you want to know?
Jack answered, “Because if I know tomorrow is
coming then I will wait”
And what if tomorrow is not coming?
Then I will have to do it today, Jack said.
Lord Responded, “Let me see your list of all
that you would have to do today, if there’s no tomorrow, then I will let you
know.
Jack thought for a moment and began his list:
Well first I would have to call my dad and tell
him I forgive him because I know that whole scripture, you know, if I don’t
forgive others you won’t forgive me, yadiyada…So I’d better do that!
Then I would have to pay a visit to our church
treasurer, Nancy what’s her name and hand over a big ‘ol check, cause Lord you
know, I know, I owe you a bunch of money, I been meaning to pay you back, you
know…OKAY, TODAY, MUST DO, VISIT NANCY WHAT’S HER FACE
Then I would have to give that lawn mower back
I borrowed from Jim, but I broke it, never mind
Okay, I would have to get that fixed today and
then try to get it back to Jim. It can be done, has to be done.
Oh, I’d better take my wife out too, was supposed
to do that last week, and the week before, and the week before, okay, okay,
that’s a must, take wife out TONIGHT.
Wait, how am I my gonna do all that and take my
kids to the zoo too, I promised them I would take them….
Oh know, the leak in the church, I promised,
~great, okay, I have to do that today ALSO, add it to the list, I’m running out
of room here….
But wait, what about my mom, I told her I’d
visit yesterday and never went. .OKAY, WELL TODAY IS THE DAY THEN or TONIGHT,
NO I CAN’T TONIGHT, I CAN’T TODAY.
Exasperated at all the Jack had to do, he
moaned, “Lord, Please, I’ve got way to much to do in one day, please tell
me….there will be a tomorrow.
Silence, there was nothing but silence…..
The Lord thought about it for a while, then
feeling some empathy for Jack’s predicament and all that Jack had to do in one
day, The Lord finally responded, ~“yes Jack, there will be a tomorrow”
Oh good, said Jack! What a relief, then I can
take the day off today and get it all done tomorrow.
Thanks Lord!
